New Delhi, 10th July 2020: Desperate time calls for desperate measures. Covid-19 situation and lock-down aftermath has challenged mankind in many ways. Affecting lives as well as livelihood, the situation is a testing time for everyone in the ecosystem. While face – masks and hand gloves have become a major essential in the current unprecedented time, many designers and brands are bringing various innovations in terms of its design and style, bringing jobs to their front line workers in the process. However, is this enough? Most often we end up wearing our masks as a beard! Again, the genuine problem is, it is difficult to keep it separate and on the other hand social distancing seems to be a distant dream in the densely populated cities in India.
To carry the baton forward in inventing measures of care and protection, Prof. Somesh Singh and his team of skilled artisans have created Smart Ajrakh Jacket – Covest.
Designed to follow all advised guidelines for virus prevention, the Jacket is developed not just in a view of ‘Care & Precaution’ but also to help revive the economy of Craftsperson in distress looking for employment and sustainable livelihood in the textile industry.
When Crafts meet technology, ‘CoVest’ is a collection of handcrafted protection garments designed and made to fight against Covid 19 with intelligent and smart way, intended to provide opportunity for millions of artisans in the field of textile design in the process.
Prime features of Covest are Viral Shield, In-build masks, Social distancing sensors, body temperature thermometer, Magic UV pockets.
“As India enters Unlock 2.0, with increasing relaxation and interaction among people in the public spaces, the major areas of concerns remain unaddressed; how does one know whether others are well or not well? How to recognize if the minimum distance of 2-meters or 6-feet is maintained? How does one isolate masks, and have a secure place not infecting other belongings. By being aware we break this chain of infection and help people with low immunity survive.”, “The answer is CoVest of new normal” – Prof. Somesh Singh
First jacket, Co-Vest – AJRAKH (Block Printing from Kutch) is ready for market launch, crafted and designed with UNESCO & WCC Award Winning, Abdul Jabbar Khatri. It employs technology & innovation in both material and construction following all protocols suggested by the World Health Organisation and other agencies to maintain ‘Good Habit’ that prevents infection.
CoVest(s) are completely ‘MADE IN INDIA’ indigenous innovation and products that can help general public, industries, services, hospitals and other institutions to address the challenge that we are facing every day in the huge growing ‘CoVid-19’ infections and with opening up of activities due to ‘Unlock 1 & 2’
Prof. Singh further adds “Many people see this relevant to CoVid-19 only (which it is very much)! However, going forward product such products would be greatest blessing and support to mankind including ‘Blind People’ who needs navigation support to avoid collision, and even for Women’s Safety, Two Wheeler riders due to the ‘Proximity’ Sensors in CoVest, they can be alerted immediately to avoid any unfortunate incident or accident. So the point is such ideas do not end with just one disease but the ‘Technology Invented’ is there to stay to help ‘Underprivileged’ and ‘Most Vulnerable’ in our society.”
